There were a lot of businesses we could have pursued, but Shredder was the first one that immediately felt like us. We loved that it isn't just about teaching skiing and snowboarding—it's about building confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love for being active outdoors. Living in Minnesota, skiing and snowboarding are part of our culture, but getting kids started can feel intimidating. Between cold weather, equipment, chairlifts, and busy hills, those first experiences can be overwhelming for both kids and parents. Shredder removes those barriers. It gives kids a fun, safe environment to build skills, confidence, and a love for the sport before they ever step onto a mountain. We’ve always dreamed of building a business together. For years, we’ve had countless "what if we..." conversations — dreaming about the right business we could build as a family. The kind of late-night ideas that start as curiosity and slowly turn into something bigger. We always believed that if we were going to take the leap into entrepreneurship, it had to be something we genuinely loved and believed in. Professionally, Caitlin has spent her career in Sales Operations and Customer Success, helping businesses grow through strong systems, exceptional customer experiences, and team development. Brian brings the entrepreneurial sales mindset and business strategy that has helped turn this dream into reality. Together, our backgrounds complement each other in ways that have prepared us to build something meaningful. The mountains have always been part of our story. Caitlin learned to ski as a young child before falling in love with snowboarding as a teenager, and Brian grew up skiing on family trips to Colorado. Long before Shredder was ever on our radar, we knew we wanted our boys to experience the same joy, confidence, and lifelong love for the mountains that shaped us. Like many families, though, we quickly learned that those first experiences can be challenging—especially with young children. After a particularly tough first experience, we started looking for ways to help kids build confidence before heading back to the mountain. That's when we discovered Shredder. The more we learned about the concept, the more it just made sense. It was exactly the kind of experience we wished we'd had—but there wasn't a location anywhere in Minnesota. Instead of accepting that, we decided to change it. Now we're excited to bring Shredder to Minnesota so more families can experience the joy, confidence, and lifelong love of skiing and snowboarding that these sports have given our family.
